Us Two – calligraphy poem
This is a poem I wrote in calligraphy for Tom and his wife Rachel a few weeks ago.
The poem was a wedding reading and as a first anniversary gift Tom asked me to write it in calligraphy and frame it for Rachel.
Us Two
by A. A. Milne
Wherever I am, there’s always Pooh,
There’s always Pooh and Me.
Whatever I do, he wants to do,
“Where are you going today?” says Pooh:
“Well, that’s very odd ‘cos I was too.
Let’s go together,” says Pooh, says he.
“Let’s go together,” says Pooh.
The Road Not Taken
This morning I am starting a new commission, for Deb. I thought I’d share it with you, it’s The Road Not Taken, written in 1916 by Robert Frost.
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
The Art of Marriage
I’ve had an enquiry about one of the most popular wedding poems, a firm favourite and a pleasure to write.
I’m hoping I can write this little gem up with a vintage / 1920s art nouveau twist… fingers firmly crossed!
In the meantime I thought I’d share this favourite wedding reading with you.
The Art of Marriage
Wilferd A. Peterson
Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things…
It is never being too old to hold hands.
The Lake Isle of Innisfree
This is one of my favourite poems, also one that my Grandma learned in school and still knows from memory! I’m writing it today for Scott, to give as a gift for his very special friend.
By W.B. Yeats:
The Lake Isle of Innisfree
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
